Project Components/Timeline

Spring 2007 - initial planning stage


(Beth Ann, Kim, Shelley)
  1. Generate project vision statement.
  2. Establish project goals and priorities.
  3. Create a project timeline - including incremental deadlines/goals.
  4. Draft a template for the design of the final product, including sample input.
    (Include fields/format for grade level, project description, curricular objectives, materials needed, assessment method, plus, over time, project samples, adaptions, templates, etc...)
  5. Draft mechanisms for reflection and evaluation (of process and product).
  6. Present components 1-5 to committee members and administrators for review/feedback.

(All committee members)
  1. Provide input/feedback on above items -- brainstorming pages will be added to wiki to assist in this.
  2. Draft outline of major curriculum topics/themes along with enough detail to assist in planning. Include approximate time of year.
  3. Information-gathering - identify strengths and weaknesses of current program (both student technology literacy and teacher technology integration).
  4. Facilitate communication among teachers and committee -- using Nicenet, email, wiki, etc...)

(In March 2007, Beth Ann and Kim will participate in ProjectLearn Train-the-Trainer, a 3-day workshop that teaches instructional technology specialists how to incorporate principles of project-based learning in staff development, teacher collaboration, and technology integration).

Summer 2007

(All K-3 teachers)
Participate in "Computer Centers in the K-3 Classroom" course (tentative course title).
- Teachers will be asked to bring ideas/materials for developing technology-integrated curriculum projects.
- Use shared time to begin generating ideas, soliciting goup input.

(All committee members)
Participate in 2-day Summer Committee Workshop
  1. Begin drafting tech curriculum document using template
  2. Determine project plan for 07-08 school year

Fall 2007-Spring 2008 - development/writing phase


(All committee members)
  1. Participate in School Technology Committee:
    - Act as liaison between grade level and tech committee (all teachers provide ongoing input via committee members).
    - Participate in periodic meetings/planning sessions to complete 3-year school technology plan.
  2. Generate technology literacy sequence and content-based integration project sequence, according to identified grade-level tech skills and curricular goals.
  3. Provide reflection/evaluation of curricular tech projects as they are implemented during school year.

Fall 2008 - implementation

(All K-3 teachers)
Publish and implement program - engage in yearly review, adjust as needed.
